On the boards, and in the public conversations, I have noticed many of you have questions about how to use iTunes.
iTunes, is a probram like any other, but it has many parts to it, so it is not easy just to say how to make it work.
On this board I will give readers my personal opinions, and advice on iTunes, and how I make it work.
Please post specific questions, or advice. I have even had a question or two, but have solved them, and I will post how later.
Next a general over view of iTunes.

Okay lets gets started.
I will assume you’ve already got iTunes installed, so I’m going from that point. I am using Jaws 14, Windows 8, and iTunes 11. All I suggest should work with Jaws 11 and up, XP and up, but you’ll need to upgrade iTunes to its latest version.
I will post, if I know something works different with earlier OS, or Jaws.
I do understand everyone doesn’t have Jaws, but think most of what I post should be the same with other screen readers, with the exception of items I’ll post related to running JFW Scripts with iTunes.
To start, open iTunes and press alt+H, this should open the help section. Arrow down to keyboard shortcuts, or hit the letter K. You’ll find a list of keyboard shortcuts that will work the same for screen readers as sighted persons. You’ll also find a link to a page for accessibility options.
The page suggests you turn on full keyboard navigation, here’s how.
Press alt, and you will hear file, or, new.
If you hear file, arrow once right, then arrow down to preferences.
If you hear new arrow right twice to undo, then go down to preferences.
If these don’t get there just look for it in there.
Click preferences, go to advance, click it and in there you’ll find the check box for full keyboard navigation.
Now the list of keyboard shortcuts will work for you as suggested.

Lets talk about the layout of iTunes, the controls that work it, and why it gets messed up and isn’t like what I say at all!
It is layout in rows. Arrow up, down, left, right, shows you things. Tab and shift tab also shows you things. Control tab moves you to different sections. The space bar, enters, and escapes work as well.
With Jaws, alt, and applications key open menus. It works like any program you use.
Example, I’ve got Adele first on my list, because it goes in alphabetical order. I’ve got the album box checked, so I’m seeing my albums. If I arrow I move from her either left or right to someone else. If I tab I hear her name, tab again I hear how many albums I have of hers, tab again, and I get the song list.
Now albums don’t always mean you’ve got them in entirety, but only the songs you have from them, or them complete.
How did I get just the album box to show?
The control, and tab will bring you to the list, then you can tab down and check what you want to see, or go to the store.
After you check the box, albums, songs, movies, whatever, you keep going and you’ll come to it.
I find the latest version really stable, but it will mess up like any other program does.
Messed up? Close it, and start over, or use your escape key.

Here are some personal things I do with iTunes, and you’ll find other ways to get it done, or have your own ideas on how it should be done.
When installing iTunes I don’t allow it to become my default player. When things are default, to me it limits my choice to what I want to do at the time. Watch the install, and make your choices.
It installs like anything else, so go through the items on each page, or choose custom install, so you know exactly what you are agreeing to. If you allow it to install as Apple wishes you lose control.
Now I’ve got it installed and I want to add stuff to it.
I can add any file I like from my music folder, movies, books, or whatever simply by putting it there.
Example, I want to add a song. I first find the file I want, copy it to my clip board, go over to iTunes and press, control O, for add to library. I paste it in there and hit the inter key. Now that file is in my iTunes library.
You can add a folder, and my favorite way is to press my alt key and arrow down to add folder, open it, and paste the folder in there. I don’t like the keyboard shortcut for adding folders, because it doesn’t work well.
If you know the file path, you can type that in the boxes as well to add files to the library.
To play my content, I get to it, press the enter, or space bar to start the play. If I go to another item while the other is playing the applications key and choosing play will start that item right away. Hitting enter on the item doesn’t start it for me.
I don’t like to have all my items in iTunes at once, because when I put things on my device I only want it to sync iTunes, and I don’t have to worry about over loading my device. It is possible to manually choose, if you’ve put all your content in iTunes, what you want to sync to your devices, or even uncheck items you don’t want synced at this time.
Example, you have all your content in iTunes and it is after Christmas. You don’t want your Christmas stuff synced anymore to your iDevice. You can uncheck it and it will not sync. This to me takes to much time, so I only add what I want to iTunes, and when I don’t want it anymore I delete it. You can always re ad it anytime.
That statement brings me to this. If you purchase things from iTunes, it is best to copy them to some other location, so you can use them as you wish.
Yes, I know you can delete them from iTunes, but leave them in the iTunes folder, but for me copying them to my folder of choice makes my options better.
To copy an item, go to it press the applications key, arrow to copy, and hit enter. Now it is on your clip board. Put it where you want it.

Let’s talk about the iTunes store.
I find the store partially accessible without the JFW scripts using Jaws. I’d say it was 90% accessible, except, for previewing songs.
I have posted on this subject on the accessible devices board.
Using the scripts from
http://www.blindtunes.net/
The store is completing accessible, and you can preview songs, or whatever.
These scripts do many other things, but I don’t use them all, so your experience will be different, providing you are a Jaws user.
Here is my original post on it as well.
http://www.zonebbs.com/boards.php?t=27086&qn=1
I have posted my opinions and I’ll try to answer specific questions.
I had one wanting to know to how to get songs that were labeled iCloud downloads. I find with the Scripts and if the computer you are using is authorized you’ll find a download link if you press applications key, and arrow to it.
I have now been able to get my 5 or 6 songs back where I can deal with them as I like, even from the iCloud.
In closing, for this segment, I think the iTunes program is wonderful for us, even without any altering. Sound quality is nice, and hooking up your device is a snap.
If you only use iTunes from your device, however, you’ll not need the computer application, but for us, updating, and other things is easier if you do.
There is an article on CNET about not needing iTunes anymore on the computer, even though it is now completely stable, but for me, I like my iTunes.
I like the radio feature, and many others that come with it.

I’d like to talk a bit about using iDevices with iTunes.
It is not necessary to even have iTunes to load, change, or update your iDevice, however, in my opinion this is the best method, and easiest for a blind person.
If you order your iDevice, and it arrives at your door, you can set it up without sighted assistants if you have iTunes. Your screen reader does the work for you until your device has been setup and is talking.
I am going to use an iPhone4S for my example. The iDevice you are using or use will be different, and depending on your iPhone model may be different, but in that I don’t think so. All iPhones should behave the same.
I use the USB cable to connect my device to my computer, but the connection can also be accomplished via Bluetooth, or Wi Fi. I suggest using the cable that came with your iDevice, because it will be 100% compatible for charging, and data transfer. If you buy a third party cable make sure you know what it will do, because some will only charge, but not send data.
The port you choose, 3.0, or 2.0 doesn’t matter on a PC. Unless your iDevice supports 3.0 transfers you’ll not have any different results between the 2 types.
To locate my device after it is connected I use control+tab to move to, in my case “iPhone. Pressing the space bar activates my options.
Now I can use the tab, or shift tab to move in my phone. If you press tab once you’ll find eject, and it does exactly what is claims, ejects your device from iTunes, sort of like ejecting a CD, or pulling out a USB flash drive. The phone is exactly that a drive.
Tab down you find summary, info, apps, and so on. Checking the box on the one you want makes it available to you and if you continue going with tab you’ll find it.
Example, if I check “on this iPhone, and keep tabbing I cannot see and play, rate, and other things with the content on my phone.
The iTunes controls work just like they do when you didn’t have the phone connected. I suggest checking each option your iDevice offers, tab down and learn what is possible with it.
I can put content from my PC to my iDevice, but I cannot move content from my iDevice to my PC. This is what iCloud, does for you, and you get unlimited storage for content purchased in the iTunes store.
If you purchase content with your iDevice, it will also be available on all your other iDevices, and PC’s hat are authorized with your Apple ID, so I have learned it doesn’t matter how you get it. You can have up to 5 devices per ID, I believe. I suggest after your content is downloaded to your PC you copy it to another place other than iTunes, so it is easier to work with.
Choose the PC you want to sync all your iDevices with, because it is not easy to move from one machine to another, but is possible.

I was asked 2 questions. One posted here, the other in a quick note.
The first was if you don’t have an applications key on your keyboard how to get to that menu?
With Jaws pressing shift+F10 opens it for you.
The next question is how to get music from your device on your computer?
I have not been able to do this directly, by copying the file in the phone section and moving it to my library, nor do I find an option. Here are my suggestions you can try.
First set up your iTunes, so that you are logged on to your Apple ID with the computer you want your content on. To do this open iTunes, click on the store, and go down to account, click it on and sign in.
The fastest way I think to get to the account button is to go to the bottom of the page where you find choose my store, so if you aren’t in the US click this on and choose your store, but if you are leave it and go up to the account button.
Once you are signed in, press alt, arrow left to store, go down and authorize your computer
Now check to see if your computer can download content from iCloud. On the page you are at, go to manage devices, click it on and see, or add your device.
Connect your phone so that it syncs, if you have not connected it.
You can also hit the alt key, arrow down to devices, arrow right and make it sync.
I find it is simpler to close iTunes, connect my device, so I get a fresh start after the steps above. It not only syncs, but I have started fresh and can find things faster.
If your content is not there yet go to the phone control+ tab, it will be set on summary.
Tab down to find backup and check backup to iCloud. Go down and select backup now.
Next tab down to find the music box and check it.
Tab on down and you’ll find selections, leave the sync my library check and go on down to sync and hit enter.
Now you should have your content.
Last, you can go to the iTunes store and act like you want to buy the content again. iTunes will tell you you’ve already purchased it and offer you the chance to download it again.
Note, all I am suggesting works with contents purchased from iTunes. If you want other stuff that has not been purchased from iTunes on your computer you’ll have to pay for iTunes Match.
To turn Match on, press alt, arrow left to store, or it might say back unavailable. Arrow down and turn on Match. You’ll be guided through the rest.
When your content is on your computer it might say the title of the song and that it is an iCloud download. To get it all the way on your computer to use as you wish press the applications key and find the download button. I have been only able to see that button with the JFW scripts installed.

I would like to talk about warnings for a bit.
First, I would like to say again all I post is my personal experience, and how I personally get things done. You will find there are many other ways to do things with iTunes other then I post.
Next, iTunes, if setup as Apple gives it to you, with the exception of installing it as you wish has warnings to alert you to prevent you from possibly making mistakes, but I cannot be sure your iTunes has not been altered.
In answering the question about getting music from an iPhone on to a clean system, I did not warn to be careful you do not wipe your devices library clean, and replace it with the library, or lack of on the new computer.
Example, on the iPhone I am using for this I open it in iTunes, and I am now ready to sync some content. First I check the box of the type of content I want to work with specifically, “music”.
Next I tab on down to the sync section. My first check box says “sync music.” If I check this box, I am warned that doing this will sync this computers library only, so if I have other music content that is not in this library it will be cleaned. It asks if I am sure.
If I check that box I want to be sure I have my content backed up someplace, or that it doesn’t matter.
The next box says sync entire library, and in this case, I had suggested it would be okay to leave it checked, providing the first box was not check, and the phone had been backed up to iCloud. What I did not say clearly was if the content on the phone is not all iTunes content it will not be in the cloud unless iTunes Match was on and working. I described Match however.
If you are sure your content is iTunes and under your Apple ID, or one you can access, you are good to go, but if you have other content from other sources, you’ll need to back up.
When you first connect a device that has content already on it leave the info box checked, tab town to find the backup options.
Back up to the computer first, then back up to iClouds.
Remember, any content that has not been purchased from the iTunes store will require match to be retrieved from the iCloud.
Again, when starting fresh, choose one computer you are going to be using as your base, because you can sync your devices without worrying the library will be changed other then you have changed it. After the first partnership has been established anything you change on the base computer will change on the iDevice when you connect it. Any content purchased from iTunes will change on all devices associated with the iCloud.
Heed iTunes warnings and think about what you are doing on other computers you decide to sync with other than your base machine. You can add music from another computer easily by allowing your device to sync with it providing you do not check the first box.
In the event of a crash, I have had one just recently, remember to put your content someplace else other than iTunes. Example, if the content is music in your “music, or my music” folder you should find an iTunes folder. If you back that folder up someplace else you can restore it to a new computer easy.

Post 12 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 01-Jan-2013 10:15:53

Let’s talk now about the iTunes store.
You can get music, books, movies, apps, TV shows, and much more in the store. It is one of the best suppliers of content, because Apple makes your stuff available to you on all your devices associated with your Apple ID.
Another reason I like it, is it stores all the content purchased from the store free, and in the event of a device loss, or crash, you can get your content back.
With Jaws, and the Scripts for JFW the store is completely accessible, and I think even without scripts it is really decent. With Jaws the only feature I could not seem to work without scripts was the review. I cannot say if this problem exists with other screen readers, so if anyone has this information please post.
Here are a few ways to get in to the store and control it.
Starting fresh I can use my control+tab to take me over to “show menus” If I open this and arrow down I find the store.
Next I can just use the control+tab and go directly to store button.
Next, if I press the alt key, and don’t do anything else, I can arrow right or left, until I find store. If you do move another direction you can find it by looking for it in the menus.
Note I am using JFW scripts, so for me the control + shift + H control doesn’t take me to the iTunes store I must use slightly different key strokes, in this case, control + shift + W; however, the shortcut keys do work as described if you are not running scripts. Refer to your script, or shortcut key chart depending on what you are using.
My store happens to open up on the music section if I just use the store button and not the home. Navigating it is now just like any web page you use. If I wish to see another section other than the music I use the letter H to move me down to the explore heading, and under that I can find many thing to do, such as movies, apps, see my account, get a book, and such things.
When you click on an item, such as (Description: Babel,) that happens to be a new album at this time, you go to its page.
Notice that iTunes makes lots of noises, so if you listen you’ll hear when the page is ready to use, and then can navigate through it.
I find using my (H) or alt+ H moves me easily through the headings, so I don’t have to work so hard to get to things. Once you are use to where things are on the pages, the heading will do you well.
To preview something it will always have a button, or number above it, so clicking that number plays it, and you can control the play with your space bar. As noted, I need the JFW scripts to make this happen.
You can preview a complete album at once, or just individual tracks, so if you desire look for the preview all button, it is near the bottom.
To go back to the page you were on, or the section, example, reggae, I go back up top and choose it. If I want to see other things I move down to the explore heading again. You’ll find it on every page.
To purchase my content I hit enter or space bar on the button that has the price $1.29, for example, and iTunes guides me through the purchase.
Filling out the form fields I find is easier if I tab and type instead of looking for the fields using arrow keys, but your experience might be different. Use the store pages just as you do any web page and I think it will be easy for you.

Post 13 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 02-Jan-2013 6:50:49

I have talked about iCloud in my other postings, but here I’ll concentrate on it specifically.
iCloud is now built in to your iTunes, and you have probably noticed you have an iCloud button. What iClouds can do for you is store all your content, so that with any device you use, and you are allowed up to 5 per Apple ID, your content is available to you.
You can have any combination of devices attached to your iCloud, for example, a desktop, a laptop, iPhone, iPad, and iPod. The computers can even be a combination of Mac, and PC if you desire.
What ties your devices together is that you use the same Apple ID, have gone in to the settings menu, and make sure iCloud is on, and that the Apple ID you are using is associated in there.
I say this in case you have received or purchased a used iDevice, you’ll want to make sure. On a new device you’ll be setting it up, so your chosen Apple ID will be on it.
I say chosen, because one person can have more than one, or share a device with someone else.
All content purchased from iTunes will be stored in the iCloud. Other content will require you sign up for Apple’s Match service, currently, $25 per year.
Here is Apple’s description of it service.

How iTunes Match works.
iTunes determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store. Any music with a match is automatically added to iCloud for you to listen to anytime, on any device. Since there are more than 26 million songs in the iTunes Store, chances are your music is already in iCloud.3 And for the few songs that aren’t, iTunes uploads what it can’t match (which is much faster than uploading your entire music library). Even better, all the music iTunes matches plays back from iCloud at 256-Kbps AAC DRM-free quality — even if your original copy was of lower quality.
Once your music is in iCloud, you can play it from any of your devices. Just browse the complete list of all your music stored in the cloud and tap to play to it. You can store up to 25,000 songs in iCloud (more if songs are purchased from the iTunes Store), but only what you play or download is stored on your device.
To find Match, Control+shift to show menus, it’s under the store.
You can use control+tab over to Match; hit the button, than tab down or over to see it.
You can press the alt key, and arrow over to the store section, and find Match.
It is also on the iTunes store pages. To turn on iTunes Match on your iOS devices, go to Settings, tap Music, and turn on iTunes Match.
Once all your content is on your computer you can see the content that is in iCloud, download it, or just make note of it by moving to the song item you want and pressing the applications key, or shift+F10, if you have no applications key and looking through the settings for that item.
If you download it you can do as you wish with it, but you can save space and just leave it as is and play it.
Note, I could not see the download button with Jaws until I installed the JFW scripts.
You do not have to have Match to get your non iTunes content on to all your devices. If you sync all your iDevices with the base PC or Mac the content will be the same, or you can manually put the content on each device.
Saving all your content in the Cloud is a worry, and labor free option however, and if you should lose a device for any reason you can load it all on the new one by simply setting it up and signing on to iCloud. If you have reach your device limit, and no longer have the device associated sign in to your account and “vaporize” them all and reassign them.

Post 14 by Binary solo (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Wednesday, 02-Jan-2013 17:30:58

I just wanted to post a few tips. First of all Jaws 14 is supposed to work quite well with the new Itunes 11 and in my case it works perfectly.
Itunes 11 might taking some getting used to but it's really not that different from the previous version. For me the column browser is the most convenient way to browse my library. In Itunes 11 you can only get it by tabing to the songs radio button and checking it. Than go to view find the column browser submenu and press show column browser. Best of all is that now in Itunes 11 you can use the column browser to browse through the store which can be interesting if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.
The newest episode of Freedom Scientific's FS Cast they go over the basics of Itunes 11 with Jaws in pretty good detail so I'd advice those of you who are new to Itunes to listen to it. I think the next episode is going to cover the Store and give some tips on how to use it with Jaws. So I'm waiting... cause I've got nothing better to do.

ITunes has been updated, so I thought I’d post the changes and how to make them work.
It is still completely accessible, but the links in the article I’m posting are not correct, so if you want to upgrade yours before you get the automatic notice just download it directly at,
www.itunes.com

Apple updates iTunes with new Composers view.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57570266-37/apple-updates-itunes-with-new-composers-view/

Here is how we do it, because the article might be confusing as written.
1. Open your iTunes and press the alt key.
2. Arrow right once, and with mine it sticks sort of so I arrow down once, then go back up to preferences. You can just keep going down.
3. When you press enter to open it you’ll be on General and will hear okay.
4. Tab until you find show composers and check that box. Continue to tab until you get to okay.
5. Now it is set and the composers will show in the section with the rest of the items.
6. It just shows the song titles with artist and composers of the songs added. It is kind of neat and interesting.
Enjoy.

Syncing your iDevice with your iTunes library is easy. You can even change the library the iDevice syncs with, but remember if you do this the content on the iDevice will be wiped clean and the new content added, so you may lose something if you have not backed it up.
1. Locate your iDevice by using the control tab until you get to it.
2. Next tab until you get to the type of content you want to sync. I’ll use music for this example. Use the space bar and check it.
3. Continue to tab until you find sync music and check that box.
4. Here is where things are different depending on your situation. If your iDevice is already synced with the library you are using checking the box will add anything in your library that has not been synced. If you are changing the library you get the message that informs you the device has been synced with another library. It informs you your iDevice can only be synced with one library at a time. If you change the library all content will be wiped and you are ask if you are sure. If you agree by pressing the space bar on this choice continue on.
5. Tab down and you’ll find sync entire library, if that is your desire check that box. If you continue with the tab you’ll see different choices you can choose to sync. Simply check the one you want.
6. Continue to tab until you get to sync and press the enter or space bar
7. Now your library is synced to your iDevice.
Notes. Make sure the cable you are using is a data syncing cable and not just a charging cable. If you are using the wrong type of cable you’ll not get your content on the device.

I have been having a small issue sense I updated iTunes to version 11.0.2.
The issue I have is if I close and reopen iTunes Jaws doesn’t see it well anymore. Remember, I am also running the scripts Blind Tunes, for it as well, so this might be the cause.
The solution I found for this issue is to unload and reload Jaws. That fixes it.
This issue might be only relevant to Jaws 14, Windows 8 and iTunes 11.0.2,or even just me. I have not tested this without the scripts or other versions or windows.

Post 20 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Tuesday, 12-Mar-2013 22:50:18

I have a question.
At one point, I had downgraded back to ITunes 10, because, no matter what I did, I couldn't get the preview buttons to show up in the store. I figured I would downgrade to fix that issue, as well as bringing the search option back to the store menu where it belongs. Anyway, it ran so slow that I finally gave up and went back to the latest version. Were previous versions really that sluggish, or did downgrading just screw something up?
I say this because, ever since I put the latest version back on my computer, every time I open the application, it hangs for anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes while it tries to access the ITunes store. There's a stop button, but it doesn't do anything. My internet connection is working fine, although I haven't purchased anything from the store for quite awhile, so I'm not sure how it would work now. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this? I'm using Windows 7.

Post 21 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 13-Mar-2013 9:05:09

Previous versions were not sluggish not like that. The only things was they weren't as stable.
I have a question so I can understand you best, and hopefully someone else will post too.
Do you have any other issues with sluggishness, or is that specific to iTunes only?
Next, how long ago did you downgrade? If it wasn't long and you can back your computer up to before you made the changes you might fix this issue easily.
Last, after you give me these answers I'll post my thoughts on how you can fix it. I have an opinion, but need to know the things I asked and I want to test something before I post it.
You did not say what screen reader you are using, however, that preview button works in the store if you are using Jaws and the Blind Tunes scripts for me. It has to do with a focus issue, and up until now I have not been able to get it to work without scripts.
You can arrow down until you find the play all button, and that works, but I understand that would not be satisfactory when all you want to do is preview one track.

Hey Wayne, I baught an entire album and downloaded the whole thing on to my IPhone, but I can't figure out how to delete the songs I don't want anymore. I haven't tried doing it from my computer yet, just from the phone. I thought maybe you were supposed to find the song, double tap and keep your finger down on the second one and wait for the sound, but that method didn't help. Can you tell me how to do that/ I'll do it any way, from my phone or from the computer if I have to.

Post 23 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 20:05:41

I suggest you connect the phone to your computer.
Open iTunes. Find the songs you want to delete and hit the applications key arrow down and you'll find delete. You can use the computers delete key as well.
You'll get a choice to keep it in the iTunes library or remove it completely.
When you remove them completely they are removed from other devices you have them on as well.
If you need more help let me know.

Sorry, I forgot about this topic until it popped up again. I'll answer your questions.
I'm using a 32 bit version of Windows 7 with 2gb of Ram. I tried to install 8gb, but was unaware until much later that 32 bit operating systems won't support that much, so I basically wasted my money for nothing. Anyway, since I now know that, the lack of Ram may very well be the issue. However, other applications, like Aim, games I play, and Winamp run fine. Firefox is the only other program I use that has serious issues on this computer. I use the latest version of Jaws 14. I had the Blind Tunes scripts installed briefly, but I found that they only increased the sluggishness, so I got rid of them.
The issue with ITunes hanging when it starts is still happening, though, and still annoying the hell out of me. I can live with not buying anything from the store due to being unable to preview it, but if you have any suggestions for me on how I can bypass this stupid start screen or whatever it is, that would be great.

Post 25 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 22:03:11

You can install 4 GB. You could have kept the 8 BG. You'd not get the total power of it, but it help the system lots, so if you still have it use it. Your video card might need a boost as well.

Post 26 by GreenTurtle (Music is life. Love. Vitality.) on Tuesday, 14-May-2013 23:40:06

The 8gb is still in there. When I went into system properties, it said that only 3gb was available to use. I use a program called memturbo which tracks how much Ram is being used, and can be used to clear stuff that's not being used so that your PC speed can be enhanced. It concurs with the fact that only 3gb is available, although the two sticks of Ram that are in my computer are 4gb a piece.

Post 27 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 15-May-2013 17:03:31

That is correct. Windows doesn't use all of it, but you are probably getting about 3.2 and if lucky 3.5 of your 8 BG.
If you have another computer that needs ram and can use it, I'd remove one stick, because it isn't doing anything for you.
iTunes should run just find. I thought about something. Have you do a clean install? Try removeing iTunes and anything associated with it, then reinstall it fresh. Run it with nothing added and see what you get.

iTunes 11.0.4.4 is a bit more stable.
The only changes I find is you get more information, about what is playing and such easier, due to the new features of the mini player.
For example, using the tab key or control tab will get you to a point you can see elapsed time, song progress and such faster
. Leaving the cursor on any of these areas will cause Jaws to announce what is happening as it goes, and the right or left arrow keys allow you to move or make the changes.
Experiment with this, by pressing the arrow keys twice or just once to learn the results of the changing. It skips differently. You’ll understand what I mean.
This version seems to work with or without scripts the same, but that might be due to the things I use.
Previewing a track was an issue for many without the scripts, but this no longer is an issue.
It’s good! Smile.

Yes, I'll agree with you about previewing tracks. There's a button, albeit unlabeled, that allows you to preview tracks now. I'll take that any day over what was available before.

Post 30 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 08-Jun-2013 21:19:34

It was available if you ran the scripts, and these were for Jaws.
Now it seems to work without, and with any screen reader, so much improved.

Wow Wayne, informative much? Thankless job I am sure many times, but you are indeed helpful to many. And this is also the type of topic that would show up on Google and users will see this straightforward set of explanations.

Post 32 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 08-Jun-2013 22:14:20

Thank you.
I don't think it be Google worthy, because it is my method of doing things using the program. It is also written from a blind persons view.
I do hope it helps others however, and again thank you for the post.

Maybe I'm slow to the party, but I've always wondered how I could sync 2 iPhones with one computer?
Sure, I know you can set up different accounts, so that each person has their own iTunes library.
What if you just want to share some stuff with a friend or date, but you don't want to give them an account on your computer?
Here is the method. I'm just posting the website.

Wayhne is my hero!
Seriously, thanks!
Ok, now I've got a question.
Since updating to Itunes 11.whatever, I've had a hell of a time trying to get playlists copied to my phone. I can create the playlist but don't see a "playlist" checkbox on my phone to cinc like before.
Do I just copy it into the "music" checkbox area? This is making me crazy! I'm about to take a 6 hour ride on the rolling grey dog and need something with which to entertain myself.
Thanks in advance!

Nevermind. That probably sounded like a really stupid question anyway but just in case, here's the answer I found on applevis.com. Apparently the sidebar is hidden by default in V11 and can be turned back on by going to the view menue and selecting "show sidebar." That makes the device and it's playlists etc visible in a list as in previous versions. Hope that helps somebody.

Post 37 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 07-Jul-2013 19:27:51

No questions are stupid that are asked. Smile.
Did you get it working?

Post 38 by forereel (Just posting.) on Tuesday, 09-Jul-2013 11:08:57

Sense the last poster brought up the fact that some things are not automatically set in iTunes, it made me think about the media folder.
The media folder is the folder you would use to move your library to your new device, or backup.
The files you download, however, are not automatically saved to your media folder.
If you want this feature abled, you find it under preferences/advanced.
1. Press the alt key and right arrow once to edit.
2. Next, arrow down to preferences, and press enter.
3. Alt tab over to advanced.
4. Tab to find your settings, and tab to okay.
Now it will be set.
